I had five days based in Fort William in the last week of October in 2019 and having done a bit of research I was aware that the last day of the famous Jacobite steam train schedule would be on my second day in the area. Having arrived in good time to choose my position to capture the shot as the train traversed the viaduct the sun was coming and going lighting up the light snow covering on the background mountains. I decided on this viewpoint rather than using the usual vantage points as I thought that if the sun broke through the cloud as the train arrived it would be the best way to show the juxtaposition of the natural beauty of the location in contrast to the mighty man-made structure.
